Group chat can be a powerful feature that allows patients or participants to create a community. Users can ask for help, seek advice, hold one another accountable and provide encouragement to one another.
In some cases, you made need to ensure those participating in the chat are adhering to communication guidelines and/or not sharing or saying anything that may be inappropriate. For this reason, HealthStar provides the ability to created a moderated group chat.
To set up a moderated group chat, click on Group Chats in the left hand menu.
Then, select Add Chat.
From there complete the form, being sure to select Moderated and Use Alias (if you want the chat to remain anonymous).
Once the chat has been created, you can access the chat on the Group Chats page by clicking on the chat icon to the right of the group chat item or it can always be accessed using the chat icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Once in the chat, you can see any messages that have been sent. Messages pending approval will be highlighted in yellow. Messages can be approved (click on Thumbs Up), rejected (click on Thumbs Down) or deleted (click on Delete message).
While a message is waiting for approval, users will see the following messages.
If the users message is rejected, they will be notified in their chat window.
You can also send messages to group members yourself and you can select who they will come from by clicking on the icon next to your chat window.
If you reject a message but you would like to see the full history (including rejected messages), by clicking on the gear in the top right corner of the chat window and selecting Show Rejected Messages.
